1. Both, but with the emphasis on generic rules. We'll develop our own stuff in campaign and source books and just introduce the setting with some of the fluff in the core rule book.

2. We aren't going to introduce a specific alien race yet, but we will give guidelines on how to create alien races (well, alien military forces, at least). Anything from GZG would be supported, though - I'll post up some pictures later of what we're using for my French Foreign Legion troops and Robby's DPRG (Democratic People's Republic of Glory) regulars later so you can see what GZG troops we're using for them. None of it is OFFICIAL, though, so you can use whoever you want - in fact, we both use a mix of GZG and Peter Pig. I plan to add a lot of the modern Rebel Mini figures to my forces.

3. It will be more like Force on Force - which is why we're waiting till we have those rules in the bag to do the SF game. It will still be an infantry game, but you will be able to easily field a few vehicles on each side if you wish. Vehicles will still be deadly to infantry, but infantry will have a better chance of knocking them out than in straight AA. Vehicle vs. Vehicle combat will probably be short and sweet (for the winner, at least), at least according to the FoF playtesters' reports so far.

4. Yes and no. They'll still work the same as far as core rules go, but hard armored units will be much harder to kill than lightly armored troops and power armored units will be very, very tough and lethal.

5. Grav vehicles will fall into different categories. Some can only hover above the ground and have trouble with extremely steep grades (these are the early, "low tech" versions), others can do pop-ups, fly NOE, and even just fly off into the upper atmosphere if needed (these are the high-tech versions). The best grave tanks from the arsenals of the USA, Britain, or the EU can actually be fitted with ablative shells and "fly" to a planet's surface from landing ship in orbit - they have sufficient thrust to land, but not to return to their landing ship, which must actually make landfall to pick them up.

6. Unit size will generally be the 4 or 5 man fireteam as in AA - unless you want to make it bigger or smaller. SAGs (Semi-autonamous Gun Carriers) play a key role in many "First World" units, sometimes replacing human heavy weapon gunners entirely. Robotic medics often trail along behind units, waiting to rush forward and deliver aid or evacuate serious casualties.
